We recently held a client event at the South Place Hotel – these evenings are an opportunity to catch up with our clients and for them to see the venue in a relaxed environment and consider for any future events they might like to organise.
This is a friendly buzzy Hotel with lots to offer for everyone. We enjoyed the Hotels’ vibe, its energy and culture was there for us to see and absorb. With its excellent and attentive service a superb evening was had by all.
The South Place Hotel is a 80 bedroom luxury Hotel situated in the heart of the City of London just around the corner from Moorgate and Liverpool Street tube stations. This is the first hotel from restaurateurs D&D London and offers two restaurants, three swanky bars and five private dining and meeting rooms.
The bedrooms are all stylish and modern, all Conran – designed interiors and reflect a urban and contemporary style. They all feature a Bang & Olufsen TV, delicate mood lighting and large windows. Each has an ultra-modern en suite bathroom, a media hub, and a minibar, with room service available throughout the day. There is even a toaster in the bedroom so that you can make your own toast, just as you like it, when you order breakfast !
The Angler, Michelin starred restaurant is perched on the top floor of the Hotel. The restaurant focuses on seafood from Britain’s shores and rivers and serves an inventive and exciting menu. The Chefs View is a semi-private space in the Angler which can cater for up to 14 people with views of the Chef and the iconic city landscape.
The Terrace which is situated at the far end of the restaurant is a wonderful outdoor space for a drink and a snack, albeit an elegant one, with great service to match! In high summer there are BBQs, live DJs and a spectacular buzz. In the winter, heated parasols and cosy blankets keep guests toasty.
The Garden bar (one of 3 bars in the hotel) is something of a secret – a genuinely surprising retreat in the heart of the City, reserved for SPIES Society members, guests and for parties of up to 60 people. The garden has a retractable roof which protects you from the elements and adds to its charm.
The largest meeting rooms, Purdey and Steed interconnect to form one single space. The other three smaller rooms are each distinctive in character and style and can comfortably accommodate 20 for a meeting or dinner. All meeting and private dining rooms include a panelled wall behind which you will find cloakroom storage and full audio-visual facilities, including a 55-inch Bang & Olsen television.
The rooms take their names from spies and secret agents in The Avengers, The New Avengers and The Men from U.N.C.L.E. We have to mention the Kuryakin Room which has a stunning scarlet, lacquered table as its focal point, with a dramatic circular chandelier above it and red leather chairs around. You will have worked out why it’s called what it’s called, after Illya Kuryakin, the Russian Man from U.N.C.L.E.
