A conference or convention centre is a large venue which has been designed and built to hold large capacity events. They offer sufficient floor space to accommodate thousands of delegates and are ideally suited for exhibition/trade show and big conferences.
If you are organising a conference and typically require a raked theatre style seating layout, large convention centres tend to have at least one auditorium to accommodate this. Along with this they normally have a multitude of different size conference rooms, large catering areas with various food outlets all under one roof.
As an added benefit, some of the larger capacity convention centres also have venues to accommodate bedrooms on site, whether this is available within a hotel linked to or located next to the conference centre or actually within the same building. These convention centres give conference organisers the ability to arrange both staff and delegate accommodation local to where the event is taking place to allow quick transfer times & easy access between venues.
There are some great convention centres in the UK which could be considered if looking for a large venue for this purpose.
University campuses also work well for both small events to the large conferences, especially if dates fall outside of term times.
Universities can offer a wide selection of different building styles varying from iconic, traditional buildings to a state-of-the-art conference centre. With many locations across the UK these academic venues can be situated in city centres or within the countryside so can suit all requirements.
