ewcastle Gateshead Convention Bureau was named as Silver winner in the Best Convention Bureau category at the M&IT awards last year. With this in mind it is always good to have reminder of the conference facilities the city can offer for a corporate client and why it could work for your next meeting or conference.

Newcastle Gateshead is united by seven bridges with Newcastle (on the north bank of the River Tyne) and Gateshead (on the south bank).

It is an easy city to get to; only 2hrs 45mins from London by train and the international airport offers direct flights to 80 destinations worldwide. You can get from the Airport int the city centre in 23 minutes via the Tyne & Wear Metro. The trains run every 5 to 15 minutes.

There are over 7,500 city centre bedrooms all within easy walking distance of major conference venues to suit all budgets.

Sporting Venues

Newcastle United Football Club (St James’ Park) is located in the heart of the City so is easily accessible by public transport with a Metro stop opposite and some car parking on site. There are 9 Conference rooms available alongside the hospitality boxes including the Bamburgh Suite which is the largest suite and takes up to 1000 guests for a dinner. For smaller meetings or breakout rooms the hospitality boxes overlooking the pitch are perfect.

Newcastle Falcons Rugby club is located on the outskirts of the City and has plenty of free car parking. They have conference space ranging from 4 to 300 delegates.

For something a little different as a corporate team building activity why not offer your delegates the opportunity to play on their state of the art pitch.

Newcastle Racecourse is set in the heart of a 812 acre estate to the North of the City. With three multi-functional conference spaces accommodating up to 500 delegates, 24 additional meeting rooms, and free parking for up to 10,000 vehicles this venue is suitable for a variety of corporate events.

The largest is the Gosforth Park Suite which is a multi-functional suite which can take up to 200 cabaret or 500 theatre. The adjacent lounge area with terrace is ideal for registration and catering has wonderful views over the racecourse.

Unique Venues

BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, a former flour mill, can host a variety of corporate events. Level 1 is a blank canvas space comprising of a large event space (300 theatre style), T-shaped reception area/lobby, a 54 seat small cinema, and two further breakout rooms. The River Terrace can take up to 180 theatre style and has an outdoor balcony with fantastic views of the City both day and night.

As an added incentive to your event you can have a private gallery tour where your guests can learn about the history of the venue and the current exhibitions.

BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Arts also offers corporate team building opportunities including Play Rebellion, Baltic Abseils and Roof side walks!

The Sage Gateshead is an attraction not just for its music but also for its Sir Norman Foster designed architecture. It is one of the largest conference and exhibition venues in the North East with its largest space offering 1640 delegates. The venue also has an additional auditorium Sage Two and various breakout spaces.

Life Science Centre has 8 meeting spaces and can accommodate for a variety of events ranging from 2 to 180 delegates.

The Centre has a planetarium that can be hired for Breakfast meetings up until 10am and evening meetings from 5pm. With its 360 degree domed overhead screen you can create a real wow for your event for up to 70 delegates.
