We recently experienced a ‘gastro gallop’ with Holly from ETM Venues. You may not be familiar with the name of the group but I am sure you will know their venues which include the Botanist, Chiswell Street Dining Rooms, Aviary and Jugged Hare. Some are located in Hotels which are catered by ETM venues and others are stand-alone venues.
Our evening started at Burdock which is located on the ground floor of the Montcalm Royal London House Hotel, Finsbury Square. This is the Hotels café, bar, restaurant which has semi-private areas that can be booked and also the bar can be booked exclusively. They have shuffleboards here which can be hired – don’t ask me the rules but I am sure it is not too complicated!
Also located on the ground floor at the other end of the Hotel with its own private entrance is the Long Arm Pub & brewery. It has only been opened a couple of weeks and was really busy for Monday night. They brew their own beer on site which can be incorporated into a corporate event showing you how beer is brewed and you can also have the opportunity to brew your own beer to take home! Here you can hire a semi-private area and eventually in a few months you should be able to book the whole venue exclusively for an event. I really liked the vibe of this place – it was something different.
We then had a quick look around the conference facilities at the Hotel located on the lower ground level. ETM venues look after all the catering at the Hotel including conferences and dinners.
Next it was up to the 10th floor – to the Aviary. The Rooftop Bar with its amazing views of London. Here you can hire semi-private areas. We had starters here – which were absolutely gorgeous – good start!
Before we left we went to the 9th floor and the Palm Rooms at the Aviary. These are 3 rooms which open onto a covered outside area which can take up to 150 people for a cocktail reception. Really great space. The space inside can double up as a meeting room or private dining room (for about 12 people) but can also be transformed into a bedroom if required – what a clever idea.
We then walked to the Jugged Hare – about an 8 minute walk away. This is a ‘gastro pub’ which specialises in game. We walked through the bar area where you can ‘hire a barrel’ for up to a group of 12 & went downstairs to the private room Josephine named after the daughter of the famous Joseph Perrier champagne House. This is a lovely room surrounded by champagne bottles and has a feel of cellar – ideal for wine tasting or private dining.
Back upstairs to the main restaurant and whilst we waited for our main courses we sampled game chips. Our choice consisted of mussels, goat, sea bream and pie (not altogether!) We all really enjoyed our main meals.
Almost next door is the Montcalm at the Brewery Hotel London City & Chiswell Street Dining Rooms. Again ETM look after the catering for the Hotel as well as the private dining rooms.
We saw 4 conference rooms & also the tucked away private dining room in Chiswell Street called Grubb Street which takes around 12 for a dinner.
So here was desserts – wow! We were treated to a selection of each dessert to taste which was ideal – the treacle tart and clotted cream went down particularly well!
So to our final destination – the Botanist at Bishopsgate. The Botanist is located within Broadgate circle and surrounded by other restaurants minutes from Liverpool Street station.
Downstairs is the Soda Room – a private space ideal for drinks receptions & parties taking up to 150, here you can party the night away until 3am.
On the Restaurant level there are several semi-private areas, ideal for those groups wanting the buzz of the Restaurant but like their own area.
It was great to see a selection of ETM venues and see how different they all are. The food was excellent at each one and we went home with very full tummies.
If you would like to know more about the venues like ETM we can book for your next event – why not call us on 01252 722185 or complete our form.
