Glasgow is served by three international airports, with direct flights from over 175 destinations. It also boasts the largest rail network in the UK, outside of London. Glasgow International Airport welcomes 40 direct daily flights from London and there are more than 20 daily direct trains from London as well so it is an ideal location for those travelling from the City.
Glasgow is a compact city so very easy to get around on foot, but for the times when public transport is required they have a very efficient system and the taxi system is also the most cost effective in the UK.
Or like in London, if your delegates are feeling energetic, there is a cycle hire scheme across the city.
The City blends urban and rural locations, the North boasts industrial heritage while the South offers a mix of city suburbs, open moorlands and scenic landscapes. There are world-class attractions, museums, a vast array of shops and an impressive gastronomic scene along with a choice of top conference venues and hotels to hold your conference in.
The SEC has 22,500 square metres of exhibition space over 5 halls, the largest auditorium seating 12,000 people. The Glasgow Marriott is a popular hotel venue with over 18,000 square feet of meeting space and the Radisson Blu has 15 meeting rooms, the largest having a capacity of 800 people.
If you wish to add some Scottish flare to your event then there are plenty of options to choose from. You could add on whisky tasting, the Scots do love a ‘wee dram’, or you could open your corporate event with the sound of bagpipes from a single piper or even a full pipe band.
We held a Burns Night in January 2018 for a client event which included both whisky tasting and bagpipes. It’s safe to say they went down a treat but be prepared to be watched and videoed by the general public though, the pipes don’t go unheard!
