We recently visited the Hilton London Bankside, a £120m new build representing the next generation of design-led Hilton Hotels. This is Laura’s blog

The Hilton Bankside located near to the Tate Modern and the Shard has an urban and industrial design with wooden panel walls, concrete ceilings and bare brickwork. It has 292 bedrooms including executive rooms, suites & a penthouse, all sleek and modern in design.

There are 11 meeting rooms which total 10,000 sq ft of event space, the Bankside Ballroom being the largest. It can accommodate up to  600 people theatre style and 430 for a dinner.

The Ballroom has 6m high ceilings (great for conferences) and incorporates a balcony foyer and downstairs foyer. A marble staircase joins the two together making it an ideal space for pre-dinner drinks, catering or exhibition.

The London foyer is the central hub of most of the meeting rooms and boardrooms. There are fridges and hot plates where refreshments and lunches are served along with sofas and comfy chairs for delegates to relax during breaks.

The Distillery Bar is located on the site of Stevenson & Howell’s Standard Works, a renowned essence factory in the 1800’s, so the bar in it’s place now pays homage to it’s heritage. It serves signature cocktails, sharing platters and bar snacks.
One of the walls in the Bar is made up of 16,000 pennies dating back to 1860 inspired by a rumour that the building was once a coin warehouse for the Bank of England.

The hotels restaurant ‘Oxbo Bankside,’ has an open kitchen concept and we were tried platter after platter of tasters.  It’s safe to say we tasted most of the menu and it was delicious my favourite – the melt in your mouth steak!

We feel that this venue is ideal for an event that requires a contemporary new build which still has character of its surroundings.

When you visit look out for the fox figures which are a reminder of the visiting ‘Bankside fox’ that left paw prints in the cement during building. It used to be a frequent visitor during construction keeping on eye on the build whilst entertaining the builders !
