There are many venues in London with outdoor space which range from seasonal marquees, garden, and terrace areas to rooftop terraces offering fantastic views of the London skyline.
Sadly, with the UK’s unpredictable weather one thing to consider when booking a summer event with outside space that the venue has a wet weather option.
If you are considering a late evening event then you may also want to consider inside space for when the temperature drops.
There are many London venues which have outdoor space to choose from and below are just a few suggestions
Royal College of Physicians, Regents Park
The Royal College of Physicians is minutes from Great Portland Street, Warren Street and Regent’s Park tube stations, and accessible for Kings Cross, Euston and Paddington stations, as well as the St Pancras Eurostar terminal with links to all major London airports.
The College Garden is one of the few ‘physic’ gardens in London. It is a medicinal garden and contains plants from all over the world. The Garden is ideal outdoor space for a summer evening drinks reception, barbecue or al fresco dining.
41 Portland Terrace, Marylebone
The Terrace at 41 Portland Place is the perfect outdoor venue for entertaining amongst the rooftops of Marylebone. Surrounded by jasmine, and olive trees, with an artificial grass lawn this versatile space is ideal for summer BBQ’s, receptions and exclusive al fresco dining.
Century Club, Shaftesbury Avenue
Concealed behind a discreet front door on Shaftesbury Avenue is a Soho secret, the Century Club. Aptly named in honour of its one hundred stairs, there are 2 outdoor spaces available to hire for events:
The main terrace on the 4th floor has stunning views over Shaftesbury Avenue, and London’s iconic skyline. With a fully retractable glass roof, this is the perfect place for private hire all year round. This space also comes with access to the adjoining Cigar Terrace, which, with its outdoor heating system, is equally suitable for a winter soirée. This can be used for daytime events as well as evening events.
This area is ideal for a larger standing reception and has a plug in PA system for music or DJ.
On the 5th floor is the top terrace. This new space has views stretching as far as Canary Wharf down to the bright lights of Soho’s at your feet. This space is ideal for smaller standing receptions and has large umbrellas for rain/shade along with heaters. It is available from 5pm until Midnight
Dartmouth House, Mayfair
Dartmouth House, home of The English-Speaking Union, is an elegant mansion set in the heart of London’s Mayfair.
In 1870 Lord Revelstoke (Edward Charles Baring at the time) purchased No. 37 Charles St and after he became a Lord in 1885 he purchased No. 38 in 1890. He turned the two Georgian Houses into one larger house. No expense was spared and one of many new especially designed features included the marble courtyard which is used for outdoor events.
The architectural style, fountain, wrought iron tables and chairs combine to create the atmosphere of a chateau terrace for a very stylish outdoor event.
Kia Oval, Vauxhall
A hidden gem perfect for summer parties or post-conference drinks. Sitting right at the top of the JM Finn Stand, this covered area can hold up to an impressive 600 guests on an informal basis. There are spectacular views of the pitch on one side and the impressive London skyline on the other side.
HMS Belfast
From World War II to Korea, HMS Belfast has been looking after our nation since 1938 and is moored next to the iconic Tower Bridge. Perfect for Summer events she can offer 3 decks; the Jubilee, Boat and Quarter Deck where you can hold your drinks reception with views of the Gherkin and Tower Bridge.
Rooftop at the Trafalgar St James
The Rooftop is the perfect outdoor space to take in the city’s finest view and enjoy alfresco drinking and dining against the backdrop of London’s iconic skyline. Choose from 3 smaller areas ranging or exclusive use of the Rooftop is available.
4 Hamilton Place. Mayfair

In 1938, No.4 became home to the Royal Aeronautical Society which is the world’s only professional body dedicated to the entire aerospace community and remains here to this day as their headquarters.
The Argyll Room leads to the Terrace making it an ideal wet weather option for our unpredictable British summer. The roof terrace has fantastic views overlooking Hyde Park, with its west-facing aspect capturing the evening sun.
