The very special Tylney Hall
Penny and a friend were very lucky to have an overnight stay at this wonderful luxury hotel in Hampshire recently, here is her blog:
This beautiful period property stands handsomely amongst the sweeping lawns and well-manicured grounds.
Tylney Hall is as special inside as it is outside. Having arrived early I waited for my friend in the lounge. As I sunk into the huge sofa I drank my tea (loose – no tea bags here), poured from a silver pot with two home made cookies. I never knew tea and cookies could taste as good. The server was attentive and polite, nothing was too much trouble.
Our bedroom was in the main house on the first floor, just off the grand wooden staircase. The photo doesn’t do it justice. Big WOW. It is bigger than my house! A beautifully decorated period room with Molton Brown products (I am in heaven). Two huge windows displaying the breath taking views of the grounds and the rolling hills of Hampshire.
Concierge was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble from sourcing pain killers for my friends headache to maps of the grounds. It was a beautiful day so we took advantage of the weather and strolled around the grounds. It really felt as though we had stepped back in time. Something from a Jane Austin novel. Behind each corner was another spectacular view or a different themed garden. Lakes (sadly missing a semi clad Mr Darcy), roses, rhododendrons, an outside pool and the perfect spots to just ‘be’.
We followed our walk with a swim in the indoor pool, a jacuzzi and then relaxing on the loungers reading the complimentary Cosmo!
Dinner didn’t disappoint. Pre-dinner drinks in the lounge and then we were taken to our table in the restaurant. Another beautiful period room. Natural daylight floods through the huge windows although in winter I can imagine the room is seducing and romantic in its darkened state.
The food was well presented, service was impeccable and extremely tasty!
My friend and I loved our experience at Tylney Hall. We both would whole heartily recommend the hotel. From a cream tea in the lounge, dinner in the restaurant, a weekend away, wedding or a conference venue.
It’s truly a special place.
