Following her visit to the Lowry Hotel in Manchester, Lida also visited two further hotels. Here is her blog…..
The Renaissance Manchester City Centre Hotel
Just a very short walk from The Lowry but a completely different property. This four star hotel on Deansgate, in the city centre near Piccadilly Station, has 9 meeting rooms in total. The largest, The Medici Ballroom, has loads of natural daylight; it is undergoing refurbishment and will have new carpets and a lick of paint etc. It can hold a maximum of 400 pax theatre style. The bedrooms are a good size but rather dated and the bathrooms sadly are very old fashioned.
Lunch was lovely though and Katie (our client) particularly enjoyed her steak sandwich!
The Mercure Manchester Piccadilly
Overlooking Piccadilly Gardens, The Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel is situated right in the heart of the city centre.
The bedrooms (it has 280) did surprise me and are of a good standard and quite fresh, having a bright contemporary style. The International Suite, their largest meeting room, is a fantastic size, accommodating up to 800 delegates, with a very high ceiling but does look a little dated, as is the restaurant, bar and public areas.
