In the 2nd part of our Shanghai Destination Guide we talk about the Conference Venues and Hotels available to the conference organiser ……
Shanghai for your next event ?
Being a business destination means that Shanghai has a vast amount of MICE space in the city especially compared to other parts of Asia. Shanghai Exhibition Centre, located in central Shanghai specialises in large scale exhibition and conference services. This venue plays host to many domestic and international conferences and exhibitions for important economic, political, cultural and science & technology activities. Built in 1955, it is the city’s oldest convention space and marks a friendship between Russia and China.
Situated in the west of Shanghai is the Shanghaimart which offers nine different sized meeting rooms in its conference centre on the 2nd floor. These can be used to hold events such as seminars, company meetings, training and press conferences. The conference centre can also be used for large scale international meetings together with the multifunctional hall on its 7th floor.
Found in the centre of the Shanghai World Expo area is the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre (formerly the Expo Theme Pavilion) which offers four exhibition halls and 11 meeting rooms sized to accommodate different events. The largest conference room has a capacity of 780 delegates whilst others can hold 336 and 100 guests. This venue is easily accessible by bus and metro lines, close to the China Art Museum, Mercedes-Benz Arena and many five star hotels, giving your delegates many further attractions to explore.
World Expo Centre
Shanghai has a wealth of four and five start hotels – including the Pudong Shangri-la Hotel Shanghai which offers 952 bedrooms and suites in their River Wing and Grand Tower.
The Shangri-la offers the largest hotel banquet and meeting venue with 8,000 square metres of flexible outdoor and indoor event space as well as having 20 meeting rooms available for social or formal functions.
The InterContinental Shanghai Expo is also a good choice for delegates. Situated next to the Huangpu River it accommodates 384 guest rooms, suites and villas overlooking the river giving delegates a fantastic view, not to mention a mirror TV located in the bathroom! This hotel is only a five minutes drive from the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Convention Centre. With 15 different meeting rooms this would also serve conference and event’s organisers well as a conference venue.
The Fairmont Peace Hotel Shanghai offers delegates comfort and elegance in this restored hotel. Considered a ‘luxurious Art-Deco Masterpiece’, the Fairmont Peace is an ideal venue for events including meetings. Each of its 270 guestrooms are distinctive and includes 39 luxury suites.
Our wonderful events and hospitality industry will recover and become great again. We thank venues, suppliers and clients alike for their continuing support and flexibility – we will get through this!
