We had a very pleasant site visit recently to Audleys Wood Hotel near Basingstoke, which was kindly arranged for us by Jenni Clarke, Regional Sales Manager at Handpicked Hotels.
Audleys Wood Hotel is a former Victorian country mansion and is now best renowned for offering versatile meeting space and 72 bedrooms. The hotel completed a main house refurbishment programme in 2011, with all bedrooms and lounges refurbished. The hotel’s latest addition is the Simonds fine dining restaurant which complements the existing brasserie, being ideal for lighter bites.
The entrance to the hotel is very welcoming with a large lounge area and 2 beautiful fireplaces which I am sure would be lovely on a cold winters evening.
The hotel offers four meeting rooms in the main house with boardroom capacities of up to 30 and cabaret of 32. Adjacent to the hotel is an exterior garden pavilion with permanent sides, doors and windows. The pavilion has benefits such as WiFi, blackout curtains for presentations, a dedicated kitchen, self-contained permanent toilets, central heating & air conditioning, inclusive PA system and an adjacent breakout patio great for a Summer BBQ. The space is also very flexible, having the option to be divided into two sections, if required.
We had dinner in the Conservatory restaurant which is a beautiful room with vaulted ceilings, the meal was extremely tasty and the menu would appeal to all tastes and budgets. The Hotel is also a popular venue for Afternoon Tea.
Key Features of the hotel are:
- 4 Stars and 2 Rosettes
- Fine dining restaurant and brasserie
- Garden pavilion with a capacity of 200
- Front lawn ideal for team building activities
- 20 minutes from Reading and 40 minutes from Southampton
All in all Audleys Wood Hotel is situated in a quiet setting, and ideal for an executive board meeting or your next summer event where outside space is required.
