Site inspection - Mad Swans South Downs
Kate & I recently made the short trip from our office in Farnham, Surrey, to Mad Swans in the beautiful South Downs, close to Alton. What an enjoyable experience it was from start to finish.
We were welcomed with a delicious mocktail and met up with Kate Hemmings, Head of Group Sales, who gave us a guided tour of this unique venue.

The venue offers a range of flexible event spaces. Their dedicated meeting room, ‘Room with a View’, provides an inspiring setting for meetings, workshops and presentations, overlooking the golf course. The impressive Tipi can accommodate up to 200 guests, making it an ideal space for corporate dinners, celebrations, awards evenings and exclusive events.
For a more relaxed dining experience, groups can enjoy the semi-private terrace adjoining the à la carte restaurant, The Potting Shed, offering another excellent option for lunches, dinners and networking events.
Accommodation on site consists of a collection of eco-friendly cabins, situated amongst the grounds and lodge rooms, allowing small groups to extend their stay and make the most of everything the venue has to offer. They are planning to add more cabins.
Beyond the meeting spaces, there’s no shortage of activities to bring teams together. Guests can enjoy the Swing Barn driving range, the 12-hole golf course, Putt Patch, pickleball and padel courts, shuffleboard and Oches – perfect for bringing in some friendly competition into any corporate event. Naturally, we had to test our own golfing abilities on the driving range… and let’s just say our skills could use a little more practice!
The evening ended perfectly with dinner in The Hangout, where we enjoyed delicious homemade stone-baked pizzas, followed by sampling every flavour of their incredible ice cream – all made on site.
Our View
Having experienced the venue firsthand, we can confidently say that Mad Swans is a venue you need to visit to truly appreciate everything it has to offer.
We are looking forward to recommending Mad Swans to our clients to try it out for their future events.
