Site inspections are a very important part of our job as venue knowledge is key so we can recommend Hotels & venues to our clients. As well as visiting venues during the week after work we also have the opportunity to stay overnight at the weekend to experience Hotels.
I recently had the pleasure of staying overnight at the East Sussex National which is a great resort Hotel comprising of 3 Restaurants, wonderful Health & Spa facilities, 2 x Golf courses, bedrooms and conference facilities along with outstanding views of the Golf courses and the South Downs.
We arrived reasonably early as we wanted to enjoy the facilities – we had the most wonderful room which was nearly as big as my house !! The majority of the bedrooms are the same size which is great for larger groups and they all have the stunning views – none of them have a car park view !!

Our bedroom had the most amazing terrace and it was such a shame that the weather wasn’t great so we couldn’t enjoy it. I could imagine it on a lovely Summers day sitting on the deck enjoying the view.

We then decided to try out the Leisure facilities stopping en route at the Spa to purchase some Espa products ! The Health Club is also open to non-residents so offer very good facilities – the Swimming Pool is of a very good size.
We had dinner in the Restaurant which was delicious – we also had a lovely Breakfast the next day. Being the weekend the Hotel was very busy with family groups and golfers but the staff seemed to cope very well with the numbers.
I had a look around the conference facilities on the Sunday morning – the Hotel has 5 conference rooms in total – the National Suite can take up to 400 people theatre style and has no pillars so great for conferences. There are 4 other rooms on the 1st floor including the Roundall Room, an unusual room which although it has pillars has great views of the surrounding countryside and would be great for the dinners.
There are also 3 further smaller conference rooms located in the Clubhouse which are more traditional.
The Hotel is ideally located just off the A26, 40 minutes from Gatwick Airport and I think offers great value for money.
